Ayrshire’s coast, gardens, heritage and heather-filled trails inspire five nostalgic scents, each capturing childhood memories, local landmarks and Scotland’s wild, sunlit charm.
Love Ayrshire. Our new special edition collection.
We grew up quite literally with the wind in our hair and sand between our toes, on the bonnie west coast of Scotland.
From far-stretching beaches, beautiful walled gardens and forestry, as well as the proud home of world-famous Hendrick’s Gin AND the nation’s Bard, Robert Burns; we wanted to pay homage to the place we call home- Ayrshire.
Our little corner of the earth is rich in coastal charm, sunlit gardens and historic heritage; we think it really does have it all.
We hope you enjoy reading below to learn about the inspiration behind each scent in our Love Ayrshire collection:
1. Ailsa Bay Coast- Visits to the beach, coastal road trips and watching the sunset wouldn’t be complete without spotting the iconic small uninhabited island that is Ailsa Craig. Even on foggy days, Ailsa Craig makes herself known, sitting proud in the distance. The volcanic plug is not only a major bird sanctuary but is also the source material of 70% of the world’s curling stones, thanks to its unique blue hone granite. It’s our dramatic coastal landscape and that fresh sea breeze we wanted to celebrate in our Ailsa Bay Coast fragrance. With notes of bergamot, sage and sea salt, this fragrance is as fresh as it is nostalgic. Want to view Ailsa Craig up close? The last sea-going paddle steamer in the world- The Waverley- takes day trips in the summer to see Ailsa Craig in all her glory. You might even catch a glimpse of a Puffin if you’re lucky!
2. Burns Hearth & Honey- From reciting Robert Burns’ poems in primary school (a rite of passage for many Scots!) to visiting Burns Cottage where the renowned poet and lyricist was born and grew up; Ayrshire and Burns go hand in hand. Ayrshire is firmly on the map thanks to his well known works, including Auld Lang Syne, which is sung across the globe to ring in the New Year. Our Burns Hearth and Honey, with notes of dark honey and tobacco, will transport you to a bygone era where our national Bard would be penning his next verse, whisky in hand by the fire.
3. Culzean Walled Garden- Located further South down the coast in Maybole stands Culzean Castle & Country Park, a National Trust for Scotland site. Housed below the cliff-top castle lies woodland, secret follies and a beautiful landscaped walled garden. It’s this walled garden- one of the largest in Scotland- that we pay homage to with our Culzean Walled Garden fragrance. Smelling of juicy plum, rose and patchouli, this scent evokes memories of days out exploring the gardens with loved ones. Sunny days brought picnics on the grass, admiring the flowers, plants and fruits, and not even the Scottish rain could dampen spirits.
4. Galloway Heather & Wild Berry- Ayrshire borders Britain’s largest forest park- Galloway Forest. Picture rolling glens and scenic forestry trails filled with plants and wild flowers. Our Galloway Heather & Wild Berry captures the soft honeyed warmth of Heather and harks back to our childhood days of picking fruits with our gran. This fragrance is reminiscent of an Ayrshire summer spent exploring woodland paths until the sun went down.
5. Girvan Gin & Grapefruit- Girvan Gin & Grapefruit celebrates the small harbour town of Girvan and its proud gin-making heritage, nodding to the craft and curiosity that gave us Hendrick’s. We’ve bottled that distilled magic and paired it with citrus bursts of grapefruit. This scent is modern and playful, reminding us of childhood visits to Girvan, with sandy toes and laughter, while also reflecting who we are now as adults, still curious for adventures.
We hope you’ve enjoyed virtually touring Ayrshire with us! Where will you take a trip to first?
Love Sarah & Abi
