What wax and wick do you use?
Our candles use a high-quality natural soy wax blend and cotton & brown paper wicks. These have been selected to ensure a clean burn and optimal fragrance throw.
Are your candles vegan and cruelty free?
Yes all of our products at Jar Candle Co. are vegan and cruelty free.
Do your candles contain allergens or allergens labelling?
We follow CLP labelling and list all known allergens on our products (the bottom of each candle/wax melt).
How should I burn my candle for best results?
Trim the wick to 1/4 inch before each burn, allow a full melt pool on first burn (until the wax reaches the jar edge), and never leave a burning candle unattended.
Can your candles cause staining or heat damage?
Place candles on heat-resistant surfaces; use a coaster or tray to protect delicate surfaces and avoid direct contact with fabrics.
Can I order personalised candles or bulk gifts?
Yes we can offer bespoke scents, labels, and bulk orders for events and corporate gifting; please contact us with your requirements and timeline.
What is your returns policy?
For damaged products contact us within 7 days with photos of the damage or issue and your order number; we will arrange a replacement or refund depending on the situation. Please note as much as we would love to have an online 'scratch & sniff' to allow you to smell our scents before you purchase unfortunately this is not possible. Due to this, we therefore cannot accept returns due to personal preference and a scent not being to your liking.
What do you class as damaged?
Damaged items are products with broken glass or container, cracked or shattered lids, large gouges or chunks removed from the wax or severe leakage or melting that renders the candle unsafe or unusable. We do not class as damage normal handmade variations such as frosting of the wax, slight colour or finish variations, small surface blemishes or minor difference in scent strength or appearance. Our candles are 100% handmade so natural variations in colour, texture and finish are expected.
How long will a candle burn?
Our candles will burn for between 50-60 hours. Actual burn time can vary depending on the surrounding environment and how the candle is used. Factors that can shorten or lengthen burn time include drafts, room temperature, how long you burn the candle each session and how well the wick is trimmed.
How should I store candles when not in use?
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to preserve fragrance and colour.
How can I buy smell your products in person?
We attend various markets, craft fairs and private events. Keep an eye on our social media for our upcoming events.
Why is there soot or black smoke on my candle jar?
Soot is usually caused by too long wicks, drafts or burning in a poorly ventilated space. Ensure you trim your wick and avoid drafts to reduce any soot.
Why is my candle tunnelling or not burning evenly?
Tunnelling can occur if the candle's first burn is uneven, due to short burn sessions, drafts or airflow and/or the wick has been trimmed too short. To avoid tunnelling; on the first burn ensure you melt the surface to the edge of the jar, on future burns allow a full melt pool regularly to ensure the wax surface resets evenly, limit your burn sessions between 2-4 hours at a time to maintain an even melt and not overheat the wax and finally ensure you trim the wick before each burn to a 1/4 inch.
